This session addresses the competency frameworks required for the informed integration of AI into higher education. The workshop draws on international reference frameworks (UNESCO and EDUCAUSE) to provide an analysis of the skills needed from both the instructors’ and students’ perspectives.

The aim is to consider the best ways to develop these competencies within courses for which AI proficiency is necessary and complementary to the disciplinary objectives being pursued.

Objectives

• Identify the essential AI‑related competencies for both instructors and students.

• Envision one’s teaching through the lens of shared and hybrid human/AI competencies.

• Design approaches for integrating the development of these competencies into one’s own courses.
